Will Forte and Maeve Higgins in Extra Ordinary directed by Mike Ahern and Enda LoughmanDirector: Mike Ahern, Enda Loughman | Ireland/Belgium | 2019 | 1 hr 34 mins

Rose (Maeve Higgins) is a sweet-natured, unlucky-in-love driving instructor with a curious talent for contacting the dead, a special skill that she inherited from her late father. Despite Rose’s attempts to deny and bury her unique gift in the past, she continues to be contacted by members of the local community with requests for spiritual assistance, usually involving hauntings of household objects. However, when washed-up rock star Christian Winter (Will Forte) makes a pact with the forces of evil in return for another shot at fame, Rose is compelled to come out of retirement to help save the soul of a possessed teenager caught in the middle of Winter’s diabolical scheme.

Small scale hauntings, the do’s and don’ts when dealing with levitation and domestic disturbances from beyond the grave are all given a humorous spin in Extra Ordinary, one of this year’s funniest supernatural comedies.
